Job Description:

About the Role:

The Associate Director of Engineering Plastics for North America is a pivotal role shaping our market intelligence by delivering high-impact research, econometric modeling, and industry-leading publications that our clients rely on to make multi-million-dollar decisions. You will be the primary subject matter expert, product owner, and strategic leader within our Research and Analysis division. You will bridge the gap between complex data and actionable commercial insights, specifically focusing on the North American supply/demand landscape and the critical intersection with the automotive industry. You will report to the Executive Director of Global Engineering Plastics.

About the Team:

Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain.

You Will:

  • Lead the research, authorship, and lifecycle management of North American Engineering Plastics reports; ensuring that they evolve to meet changing client needs and market shifts

  • Provide deep-dive insights into the Nylon (PA6, PA66) value chain, including feedstock trends (Caprolactam, Adipic Acid, etc.) and their impact on downstream engineering applications

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated pricing and cost models to forecast market trends and economic shifts

  • Act as a direct point of contact for a global client base, identifying core issues within complex market problems and delivering tailored solutions

  • Support high-level consulting projects and bespoke studies as required by stakeholders, applying a product-oriented mindset to deliver high-value results

  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, engaging audiences through high-level presentations and expert panels

You Have:

  • At least 10 years’ industry experience specifically related to Engineering Thermoplastics (ETPs)

  • A deep understanding of the petrochemical value chain is essential

  • Product Management or Product Ownership within a research or technical context—managing a portfolio of deliverables from conception through to client delivery

  • Proven experience and insights into the Automotive Industry and its evolving material requirements (e.g., lightweighting, EV thermal management).

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline -OR- equivalent work experience

  • Technical proficiency with Python, Power BI, and SQL database management to drive product insights

  • Advanced economics and analytical skills with the ability to translate "big data" into narrative insights

  • Ability to build and maintain long-term, high-value client relationships and identify new "product" opportunities in the market

  • Exceptional presentation skills with the confidence to lead engagements in a conference setting

  • Direct accountability for the quality, quantity, and strategic direction of your research output
