Business and financial news company
Markets Reporter
Job Description:
About the Team:
Since 1921, Barron's has delivered the need-to-know information for all those seeking to accumulate wealth, and provided a robust understanding of what propels the markets and business community. At the forefront, Barron's is a catalyst for economic change with a powerful network of influential business leaders, financial advisors, institutional and affluent individual investors among its audience. Readers look to the publication for daily unparalleled financial information and expertise to drive results in our world and the markets.
About the Role:
Barron's is looking for a markets reporter to cover equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities. This is a core reporting role at a publication where markets journalism isn't a beat—it's the backbone of everything we do. The ideal candidate is a sharp, curious financial journalist who can break news, develop sources, and produce authoritative analysis on deadline, whether that's a 300-word market brief or a 1,500-word feature.
You Have:
- Knowledgeable about equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities, with the ability to translate complex market dynamics into clear, compelling journalism that serves both sophisticated investors and general readers
- Driven by strong news instincts and a feel for timing—knowing when a story needs to move fast and when it warrants deeper reporting
- A fluid writer who can shift between short digital updates and longer analytical pieces without losing authority or precision
- Skilled at cultivating and maintaining sources across Wall Street, asset management, and corporate finance
- Comfortable working with data and collaborating with designers on charts and visualizations that sharpen a story's argument
- Energized by the pace of daily markets coverage while keeping longer-term stories in motion
- Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial journalism, with a demonstrated track record of markets coverage. Interested parties should send a resume, cover letter, and no more than 3 clips in PDF and apply through the link on this job posting.
