About Your Role:
As a Store Shrink Specialist at Dollar Tree, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding company assets and reducing shrink within an assigned store. Through proactive audits, targeted surveillance, operational evaluations, and partnership with store leadership, you’ll help reinforce strong operational controls and ensure compliance with asset protection standards. By maintaining a visible presence on the sales floor, you’ll also provide a consistent deterrent to theft and reinforce a culture of accountability across the store team.
Your day‑to‑day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Shrink Reduction & Operational Oversight:
- Execute the company’s Shrink Reduction Strategy within the assigned store
- Conduct daily Non‑Negotiable Audits with a focus on shrink‑critical processes and procedural compliance
- Monitor store operations, behaviors, and exception trends to identify internal theft, operational shrink risks, and policy violations
- Collaborate with store leadership to strengthen operational controls and improve processes that reduce shrink, including markdowns, store usage, and direct store delivery (DSD) processes
Investigations & Case Support:
- Document internal theft indicators and partner with the Market Investigator and/or Regional Asset Protection Manager to support case development and resolution
- Utilize CCTV and other asset protection technology to conduct surveillance and identify integrity concerns
- Review external theft reporting and escalate organized retail crime and repeat offenders to the Major Crimes Team
- Support investigative efforts and collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary
Training, Compliance & Store Partnership:
- Train and coach store associates and leaders on company policies and procedures related to shrink, cash handling, asset protection, physical security, safety, and operational controls
- Partner closely with the Store Manager and leadership team to ensure strict adherence to company policies and operational standards
- Support workplace violence incident reviews with proper escalation and assessment when applicable
- Adhere to and support the execution of all company policies and procedures related to asset protection, operational integrity, and compliance
Equipment & Safety Oversight:
- Ensure asset protection equipment is operational and used effectively, including CCTV systems, exit alarms, burglar alarms, and related security devices
- Maintain a consistent and visible presence on the sales floor to provide deterrence and reinforce daily operational controls
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Support the Market Investigator and/or Regional Asset Protection Manager with shrink analysis, inventory preparation, follow‑up actions, and verification that corrective measures are implemented
- Assist with special projects, targeted initiatives, and shrink‑focused programs as assigned by Asset Protection leadership
Your Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred
- 2+ years of experience in retail asset protection or an investigative role
- Wicklander‑Zulawski certification within the last five years or the ability to obtain certification
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to travel locally and overnight as needed; valid driver’s license required
- Ability to work a flexible full‑time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
