Legal Counsel, Taiwan
About this role
This role has primary responsibility for Diageo TW business under the Greater China hub.
- Be an effective and pragmatic legal and business advisor to TW management team by understanding the business closely and building great relationships with key stakeholders in both the Diageo business and third-party relationships.
- Proactively manage day to day legal affairs for Diageo TW business including but not limited to drafting/negotiating commercial contracts, reviewing marketing and advertising promotions, dealing with commercial disputes, trade practices issues, and litigation.
- Provide efficient and commercially relevant legal and compliance support to Diageo TW. Provide input and key supports in Corporate Relations, Finance, HR, Sales, Supply and Marketing teams. Acting as a business advisor to participate in the strategic decision-making of the company.
- Education of the business in understanding and complying with Diageo’s Codes (COBC, Marketing Code etc.)
- Seen as a legal expert or having the ability to manage the function where legislation is not clear or regularly changing.
Our Expectation
- Proven experiences as a certificated lawyer, at a leading law firm or relevant in-house experience.
- Strong commercial law background- ability to navigate a changing and in some cases ambiguous legal structure.
- Strong commercial and pragmatic approach.
- Strong, analytical, drafting and negotiating skills.
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a matrixed organization.
- Confident in and sensitive to different cultures and a genuine interest in Diageo and its success
- LL.B or equivalent. Admitted to practice law in Taiwan or other jurisdictions is preferred.
