The R2 Customs First Line Manager leads a customs team and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end customs processes for goods moving from the EU into the UK. Managing a team of customs administrators and acts as the key link between vendors, Country Freight forwarders, and EU partners to ensure accurate and timely export documentation, smooth customs clearance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and customs compliance expertise to deliver efficient cross-border movements.
✅A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE?
- Ensure all export and import documentation is prepared in accordance with EU and UK customs requirements
- Maintain up to date knowledge of UK customs processes and EU export regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams eg Planning, NDNS, EU control towers, Brokers and Freight forwarders to ensure accuracy and SLAs are met
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work instructions.
- Managing two direct reports-customs administrators
