This position reports to the Senior Director, Digital Technology and is part of the Digital Team located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop and own the enterprise architecture strategy and reference architecture.
• Lead simplification and continuous Improvement efforts across the digital estate, including application rationalization, integration strategy, and technology consolidation.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to guide solution design and ensure alignment with architectural principles.
• Implement architecture governance frameworks, decision boards, and technical standards.
• Oversee technology lifecycle management, including cloud strategy, modernization, and decommissioning.
• Ensure architecture decisions support security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

The essential requirements of the job include

• BSc Degree in appropriate technical capability Computer Science, Information systems, or Engineering (MSc /MBA preferred)
• Extensive experience (10–15 years) in enterprise and solution architecture within complex environments.
• Demonstrated success in simplifying and modernizing large technology estates.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, API strategies, data platforms, and integration patterns.
• Direct Experience of working on Oracle Fusion stacks leveraging Mulesoft integrations connecting standard and/or bespoke built applications to deliver business critical services.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

• Potential for occasional travel to one of Abcam’s global offices

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Background in global, multi‑country corporate organisations, with strong awareness of cross‑cultural norms and collaboration practices
