The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is responsible for enabling design, integration and verification of key technologies on highly complex analytical instruments. As part of the Hardware Product Development team, the candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams engaging in all phases of the product development life cycle process, from concept realization through to commercialization and post-launch.
This position reports to the Manager of Hardware Build and Integration and is part of the Hardware Build and Integration Team located in Concord, Ontario and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Troubleshoot and maintain system-level testbeds (e.g., mass spectrometers) during early research and development to maximize uptime.
-
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and research teams to characterize test‑bed performance, report system behavior, and share early DFA insights.
-
Assemble, integrate, and manage pre‑production testbeds, including kitting parts, building sub‑assemblies, and ensuring proper configuration management throughout the project.
The essential requirements of the job include:
-
Completion of a recognized Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma from an accredited Canadian college or equivalent post‑secondary institution. Candidates with documented experience in electrical system integration will be considered an asset.

Meets eligibility criteria for certification with a provincial or territorial engineering technology association (e.g., OACETT), including required education, experience hours, and competency standards.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
-
Hands‑on proficiency with shop equipment, including milling machines, lathes, band saws, and other general machine‑shop tools.
-
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, with direct experience performing precision assembly and building electro‑mechanical prototypes in either manufacturing or R&D environments.
-
Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electro‑mechanical assemblies using electronic test and measurement instruments.

The annual salary range for this role is $81,500 - $89,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
