Job Description Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is the operational backbone of the maintenance team, championing the upkeep, reliability, and safety of all building systems and equipment. This role ensures that facilities run efficiently by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting repairs, and assisting with system installations. Acting as a key contributor to team success, the Facilities Maintenance Technician drives operational excellence, promotes a safe work environment, and helps maintain the integrity and functionality of facilities critical to business operations.

Job Description

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, and plumbing

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance

  • Current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record,(commercial license may be required)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Technical proficiency with work order management systems (CMMS)

  • Current EPA certification or ability and commitment to obtain

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate’s degree or vocational/technical school diploma preferred

  • Must pass a criminal background check and hair follicle drug screening

  • Flexibility to provide critical services as needed

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work requests and projects

  • Sense of urgency & personal initiative to succeed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position requires a high level of HVAC repair & mechanical troubleshooting skills

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include packaging and handling machinery, large air compressors, plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop equipment, grounds equipment, and HVAC systems among others

  • Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems

  • Ability to review, create, and maintain assigned work orders with associated paperwork within digital computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

  • Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and can paint walls, piping, floors and equipment

  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, perform both reactive & preventative maintenance

  • Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems such as fire alarm systems, fire pumps and related fire protection system equipment

  • Possess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenance

  • Identify and work with potential outside contractors/vendors from sourcing to quotation to job completion

  • Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned

  • Ability to use technology such as smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.

  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits

  • Complete all required safety training as scheduled weekly/monthly/annually

  • Bring a professional inclusive attitude, willing to help others as needed for team success.

  • Comply with company dress code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hours

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role operates in a professional office environment as well as industrial/warehouse type environments both indoors and outside during hot and cold climates

  • This role routinely uses both maintenance tools and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers to accomplish tasks

  • May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts

  • May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations (including overtime type assignments)

  • May require shift work and / or stand-by on-call duties

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.   • Utilize ladders and other lifting equipment to work at heights

  • Perform work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold environments

  • Move about the workplace, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and remaining in stationary positions as needed

  • Extend hands and arms in multiple directions to perform tasks

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $29.75 - $35.00
