Job Description Summary

The junior data engineer is an experienced individual in at least one financial platform (ERP) supplemented by BI platform experience. Advantageous to the candidate if any of the platforms are designed by Yardi or Salesforce.
This role is responsible for the maintenance of all major data integration projects between the multiple platforms under the department’s remit. It expands with close participation in the design and development of future integrations as well as advising in large scope, multi-regional solutions aimed at process and data optimization for our business lines.

The candidate will work closely with the Platform and Design teams to design the most effective solutions for the business and the department’s remit. The position is also responsible for advising and participating in establishing standards and best practices while taking into consideration new technology and industry standards. The successful candidate shall liaise with C&W IT leadership, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to ensure the financial systems are responsible for staying in agreement with C&W business processes and business drivers. Based on an escalation process, the position also provides maintenance, support, and enhancements to financial systems integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate systems change management through process, auditing, monitoring, and reporting systems.
  • Represent the platform team as liaison between technical and non-technical teams, fostering repeatable deployment and solution standards.
  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements while ensuring data quality and integrity by performing data cleaning and validation.
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using SQL technologies.
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product, and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to synergize data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure smooth operation.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of data engineering practices.
  • Document data processes and workflows for future reference.
  • Coordinate with internal or external auditors and ensure the integrity of our processes.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree in business, computer science, engineering, or marketing
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of ERP experience or related experience with a solid background in technical and data analysis, BI tools and BI data management, complex multi-platform data integrations.
  • A master’s degree in data sciences can count as two years towards the minimum experience.
  • Broad knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Java.
  • Practical ability to communicate effectively with business and technology partners to help determine platform goals and gaps.
  • Practical ability to manage multiple projects and work streams in a clear and effective manner.
  • Practical knowledge of commercial real estate and commercial fee managers.
  • Basic knowledge of Azure Integration Tools or self-determination in developing such skills.
  • Basic knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience with commercial industry financial applications (Yardi,Real Page, MRI, JDE, etc)
  • Minimum experience can be replaced by at least 1 year of Yardi ERP or Real Page ERP work experience in a technical position.
  • Practical understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git).
  • Advanced knowledge of support tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Azure DevOps).
