About the Role:

The Data Science team is expanding and is looking for an experienced R&D leader for machine learning, deep learning, and algorithms to join our team. Crowd Strike’s cybersecurity data is one-of-a-kind: we process nearly a trillion behavioral events per day and have over 2000 terabytes of malware samples in our research repository.

What You’ll Do:

• Work at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Threat Research

• Work closely with subject matter experts in cybersecurity to understand analyst workflows and their security operations procedures

• Coalesce stakeholder, user, and researcher understandings of the problem, and determine the scope of what is possible, impossible, and a worthy research challenge

• Invent new algorithms and learning methods for the unique problems we face in cybersecurity, and scale them to run on petabytes of data.

• Keep track of developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence and identify, define, and prioritize areas for research

• Define the balance in measurable, objective, a nd cost-effective criteria to judge the progress of our research

What You’ll Need:

• Expertise in building AI and agentic systems

• Expertise in driving objective-driven data science projects

• Leadership or equivalent experience to drive a technical vision, and strike the balance between independent execution and socializing progress and risks

• Some familiarity with cybersecurity and Threat Research

• Effective communicator and planner that can build consensus within a large project team

• A PhD. Or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or similar technically relevant field

Bonus Points:

• Passionate about cybersecurity, with a firm understanding of the problem space or passionate about applying your machine learning skillset to new domain areas such as cybersecurity

• A publication record demonstrating technical communication and execution (e.g., publications at AAAI, KDD, CVPR, ACL, NeurIPS, and other high quality venues)

• Thirsty for knowledge and do not hesitate to step outside of your comfort zone to learn new technologies, algorithms and concepts

• Analytically minded: never afraid to drill down into a data-set, or debug-deeper into an unfamiliar codebase

Crowd Strike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $195,000 - $290,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
