About the Role:

We're building the next generation of cloud security at Crowd Strike, and we need passionate engineers to help us revolutionize threat detection. As a Software Engineer on the cloud detection engine team, you'll architect and implement a cutting-edge detection system that processes billions of events across multi-cloud environments. You'll work on implementing our innovative technologies like custom query languages, event orchestration systems, and advanced correlation engines to detect sophisticated cloud-based threats. Collaborate with world-class security researchers to transform their expertise into scalable detection capabilities that protect organizations worldwide. Our team operates at the intersection of distributed systems, data engineering, and security analytics, building a composable and modular architecture that enables continuous innovation. This is a hybrid role based out of our office in NYC, candidate should be comfortable visiting the office twice a week once the development center is established.

What You'll Do:

• Lead backend engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across Crowd Strike products

• Leverage and build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence production at a global scale

• Brainstorm, define and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams

• Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team

• Be mentored and mentor other developers on web, backend, and data storage technologies and our system

• Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability

• Be given the autonomy to own your work in a high trust environment

• The technology stack you’ll use will include:

What You'll Need:

• Degree in Computer Science (or professional experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems)

• Understanding scalability and distributed systems i.e. sharding, partitioning, concurrency, etc

• Being a team player

• A thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.

• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment.

• The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Bonus Points:

• Contributions to the open-source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging)

• Existing exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch...

• Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence field

• Experience in thinking about, designing, or implementing programming languages and/or compilers

• Interesting hobbies

Crowd Strike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $140,000 - $215,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
