Product Engineering 팀의 Senior Staff, Back-end Engineer로서, 단순한 기능 개발을 넘어 결제 핵심 도메인의 기술적 방향성을 정의하고, 대규모 트래픽을 처리하는 안정적인 핀테크 시스템을 설계·고도화하는 역할을 담당합니다.
국내 최초 원터치 결제 시스템인 “쿠페이”를 포함한 결제 핵심 서비스의 기술적 오너로서, 시스템의 안정성, 확장성, 보안, 성능 전반에 대해 책임을 집니다. 수천만 고객이 사용하는 결제 서비스를 더 빠르고 안전하게 만들기 위해 복잡한 기술적 문제를 정의하고, 근본적인 해결책을 설계 및 구현합니다.

• Backend 개발 경력 15년 이상을 보유하신 분

서류반환정책

Role Overview

Coupang Pay aims to make Coupang the most convenient online payment platform.

As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you will go beyond feature development to define the technical direction of core payment domains and design and evolve highly reliable fintech systems that handle large-scale traffic.

As the technical owner of core payment services—including Coupay, Korea’s first one-touch payment system—you will be responsible for system stability, scalability, security, and performance end to end. You will identify complex technical challenges and design and implement fundamental solutions to make payment services used by tens of millions of customers faster and safer.

You will also work closely with cross-functional partners such as Accounting, Treasury, and other Fintech engineering teams to lead the architecture of payment back-office systems, as well as settlement and reconciliation platforms, while improving operational stability.

In addition, you will act as a key contributor in elevating the technical bar across the organization through code review, design review, and technical guidance.

Basic Qualifications

• 15+ years of backend engineering experience
• Ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems based on Java and the Spring Framework
• Experience owning and proactively driving improvements for one or more complex services or domains with strong ownership
• Ability to design systems with strong consideration for performance, reliability, data consistency, and security
• Experience structuring ambiguous problems and making technical decisions that resulted in tangible business impact
• Ability to understand customer experience and business requirements and translate them into well-architected technical solutions with a high level of ownership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading architecture design and migration in JPA- and MSA-based environments
• Experience in development and operations within the Payment / Fintech domain
• Experience responding to incidents, building monitoring systems, and improving SLAs in high-traffic environments
• Experience handling large-scale data processing with strong guarantees around settlement and reconciliation accuracy
• Experience demonstrating technical leadership in agile software development environments
• Experience influencing other engineers through sound technical judgment and system design decisions

Document Return Policy

1. This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act.
2. A job applicant, who has applied but not been finally selected for a position at Coupang (the “Company”), may request the Company to return his/her hiring documents submitted pursuant to the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. However, this will not apply where the hiring documents were submitted via the website of the Company or e-mail, or where the job applicant submitted those documents voluntarily without a request from the Company. In addition, if the hiring documents were destroyed due to a natural disaster or any other reasons not attributable to the Company, such documents will be deemed to have been returned to the job applicant.
3. A job applicant who wishes to request the return of his/her hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above should fill out a “Request for Return of Hiring Documents” Annex Form No. 3 in the Enforcement Rule of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act and submit It by email (recruitingops@coupang.com). In such case, within fourteen (14) days from the date of identifying the receipt of the request, the Company will send the hiring documents to the job applicant’s designated address via registered mail. Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail.
4. In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
5. The above paragraphs 1 - 4 shall only apply when the labor-related laws of Korea govern the application. They are otherwise not applicable.
