
Quality Team Lead

Shift: 8:00 AM-various end times
Hourly Rate: $32.25 an hour
Position Summary:
Assists in the management of food safety & quality assurance activities such as SQF programs, quality training, and reporting. Leads daily laboratory activities and collaborates with production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality and food safety. Collaborates with all departments to improve quality and food safety processes and leads cross-functional teams in continuous improvement projects. Involved in all aspects of Quality and Food Safety including but not limited to audits, GMP training, purchasing supplies, customer complaints, implementing policies & procedures and equipment installation or repair.
Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for Food Safety & Quality.

Daily leadership of laboratory personnel (Quality Technicians) including scheduling, directing work instruction, training, holding employees accountable, performance and development needs, and other tasks as necessary.

Maintain all laboratory equipment; calibrations, repairs, equipment up-keep.

Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects around quality and food safety.

Owner of quality training documents and training program for quality lab.

Maintain and create SQF related documents as necessary. Be able to communicate changes and train to modifications or new documents for entire facility.

Collaborate and assist other plant team leads in daily tasks, product troubleshooting, team projects, and other tasks as necessary.

Lead quality pillar team and/or workstreams

Primary contact for customer rejects; collaborate with QA Manager on root cause findings and corrective actions.

Provide timely responses to customers

Lead root cause analysis sessions for customer complaints and other areas as needed

Manage resolutions of customer complaints; corrective actions through completion

Evaluate and disposition for customer returns

Manage customer database for the facility

Owner of Infinity QS for the entire facility including development, training, troubleshooting, and up-keep.

Decision making for the plant on daily tasks, quality issues, customer and supplier issues, and other items as needed.

Lead UPS (Root Cause Analysis) process for quality issues.

Perform audits for the facility for safety, quality and food safety.

SAP lead for quality department; including, but not limited, to point person for helpdesk ticket support, material master data confirmation

Owner of Material Hold process; place product on hold, release or disposition as needed.

Must be willing and able to work in a culture built around continuous improvement and change.

Provide back-up support for Quality Manager & Quality Technicians

Open and willing for succession into Quality manager role

Act as a mentor to upskill and train new and developing employees.

Other additional tasks as needed by the organization.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills: Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- BS degree in Packaging or Quality Engineering, or related field or related experience preferred
Experience:
- 1-2 Years supervisory or leadership experience required
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance preferred
Skills and abilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams
- Lead continuous improvement activities
- Lead daily activities in the laboratory
- Ability to make decisions and execute them
- Knowledge of quality and food safety programs and processes, SQF and HACCP certified preferred
- Ability to train and mentor others
- Ability to troubleshoot, manage corrective actions through completion, and communicate follow-up to entire facility
- Ability to self-motivate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities within the department
- Strong organizational skills and ability to organize and follow through on projects and tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Infinity QS, Share Point, and SAP
- Thorough knowledge of all SQF programs, especially Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
