We are seeking an experienced Curriculum Designer to develop and implement educational programs tailored to the needs of a utility company. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing career path courses, working with both union and management staff, and creating engaging, effective learning materials. This role will focus on fostering employee development, aligning with organizational goals, and addressing industry-specific skills gaps.
Required Education/Experience- Master's Degree in Education or Educational Technology, with a focus on Instructional Design or a related field and Two years of related work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or Educational Technology, with a focus on Instructional Design or a related field and Three years of related work experience
Relevant Work Experience- Must have at least three years of full-time work experience in curriculum design, required.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization, required.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Windows environments and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), required.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories, engagement technique, and performance-based training, required.
- Ability to work independently, providing oversight, direction, and in a developmental role for the department, required.
- Strong understanding of instructional design models, required.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines, required.
- Excellent communication skills to engage both union members and management staff effectively, required.
- Proven experience designing curricula for diverse audiences, including unionized workforces, preferred.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning tools, preferred.
- Experience integrating diversity and inclusion principles into training programs, preferred.
- Familiarity with energy, environment, or utility industry standards, preferred.
Additional Physical Demands- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must respond to system emergencies.
- Must work at field locations in all weather conditions.
- Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations.
- Must climb ladders and stairs.
- Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces).
- Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems.
- Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including fire retardant clothing etc.
- Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct skills gap analyses across union and management teams to identify training needs.
- Design detailed educational curricula, including career path courses, timelines, and learning objectives.
- Develop engaging training materials (e.g., slide decks, facilitator guides, e Books, interactive learning experiences, assessments, etc...) in both physical and digital formats.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content relevance and alignment with industry standards.
- Integrate modern instructional methods, including e-learning platforms and gamification techniques.
- Facilitate training sessions and provide guidance on course implementation.
- Collect feedback from participants to refine and improve training programs.
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements while addressing the unique needs of unionized staff.
- Must be able to deliver exemplary customer service and develop a team-spirited work environment in support of the Company's Corporate Values.
