The Specialist in the Gas Work Management group is responsible for providing financial and ad hoc support to Gas Operations. The Specialist will work closely with Cost Management to maintain accurate financial data. In addition, the Specialist will coordinate with Gas Operations Work Management and other areas of the Company on special projects.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years full time analytical, business, administrative or finance experience. or
  • High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years full time analytical, business, administrative or finance experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or other technical degree. and two (2) years full time analytical, business, administrative or finance experience.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Intermediate to expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, required.
  • Experience with Con Edison computer applications such as: Gas Central and Contractor Oversight System, preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience using Oracle and Business Intelligence tools, preferred.

  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

  • Driver's License Required

  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be willing to travel within the Company service territory as needed.

Core Responsibilities

  • Partner with Cost Management, Project Management, Work Management, Engineering, and Operations to align analytics with organizational goals and track progress against targets.
  • Review and validate productivity reports to ensure unit accuracy, completeness, and timely capture.
  • Analyze work practices and recommend operational improvements to enhance efficiency while supporting financial objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform analysis and reconciliation of internal records to identify improvement opportunities and inform future review schedules.
  • Develop and implement datadriven strategies, in collaboration with operating areas, to improve business processes and performance.
  • Maintain accurate financial data, reports, and analyses for senior management review.
  • Support Gas Operations with financial analysis, monthly close activities, accruals, and expense oversight.
  • Monitor vendor payments and provide ongoing analytical and financial support as required.
  • Perform additional related duties and special assignments as needed.
