Collins Aerospace is a global leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defence industry.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a newly created role within Collins Aerospace and be part of the ASG Centre of Excellence, a highly skilled team of technical innovators developing next generation technologies to shape the future of aerospace nacelle actuation.

Based in a new bespoke facility in Wolverhampton, this position offers a unique chance to influence manufacturing strategy, develop advanced production capability, and directly support the delivery of differentiated aerospace actuation and equipment products.

  • Reporting to the ASG-UK Site Lead
  • Chief Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing processes are mature, capable, and ready to support production across the full product lifecycle.

What You Will Do

  • Identify, advocate, and mature manufacturing processes for components used in aerospace actuation equipment and mechanical component manufacturing.

  • Drive design for producibility, ensuring cost, quality, and manufacturability targets are achieved at production launch and throughout the full product lifecycle.

  • Apply APQP principles within the product development process, using tools such as D/PFMEA, Process Capability Studies, Control Plans, and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).

  • Partner closely with the product design function to establish and embed robust Design for Manufacture (DfM) standards.

  • Identify and mature advanced manufacturing technologies to enable differentiated product designs.

  • Execute MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) development plans to ensure production-ready manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to assess supplier capability and alignment with preferred manufacturing approaches.

  • Support global product development activities across multiple locations, with approximately up to 20% travel.

What You Will Learn

  • Technology development of strategic, differentiated nacelle actuation and mechanical equipment, supporting next-generation aerospace platforms.

  • How to help build and sustain a high-performing culture across a global engineering and manufacturing network.

Qualifications & Experience We Prefer

  • Degree Level (or higher) in an Engineering discipline.

  • Strong experience in aerospace mechanical component manufacturing methods including subtractive and additive techniques, fabrication, welding, hot and cold forming, casting, material processing, assembly, testing, automation, metrology, and inspection.

  • Practical, experience-based knowledge of deploying APQP and developing and maturing robust new manufacturing technologies in a relevant aerospace manufacturing environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary & Bonus Scheme

  • Private Medical Insurance

  • 25 days holidays + bank holidays

  • Generous Employer Contribution Pension Scheme

  • Group Income Protection

  • Life Assurance

  • EAP (Employee Assistance Programme)

  • Staff Discounts

  • Wellness Programs

  • And so much more!

Note: This position is subject to BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) checks.

Note: Travel to company locations across Europe, Middle East and Africa and US as necessary (in the potential range of 20%). Occasionally, there could be assignments outside of the EMEA region (i.e., Americas or Asia/Oceania).

Our Advanced Structures team leverages advanced materials and additive manufacturing to develop complex actuation and equipment. These solutions ensure structural integrity of the aircraft, help aircraft take off and land, stay trim in the air, move forward, carry cargo and conduct rescues. We delight our customers with superior products and best-in-class service.

Our global team is committed to continuous improvement – we work hard to make our solutions lighter-weight, stronger and more technically advanced, so that plane travel can be safer, more affordable and more sustainable in the years to come. We are looking for the best and brightest to fly and land with us!
