What You Will Do:

Pratt and Whitney, Asheville is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer responsible for, but not limited to the following:

In this position the candidate’s primary role will be to support the shop floor. A QE is responsible for reviewing procedures, specifications, work instructions and equipment to ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead teams to investigate the root cause of customer escapes and non-conformances and determine appropriate corrective/preventive actions; lead and participate in various teams in support of the unit’s CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) goals
  • Review and approve First Article inspections, Solumina Work Instruction updates, and Process Tryouts; perform product, process and work instruction audits
  • Interface with various Engineering, Operations, and Materials groups to resolve technical/quality issues
  • Review and implement various internal and regulatory requirement changes; provide technical guidance and training to Inspectors
  • Perform assignments involving planning and execution of a project of limited scope or a portion of larger multi-faceted projects (with engineering guidance) relating to new equipment introductions, new product launches, or new process methodologies
  • Assist with Escape investigations within Business Units
  • Assist engineers with data collection and analysis, design of experiments, qualification and special projects
  • Works with engineering in root cause analysis, and definition and implementation of short- and long-term countermeasures
  • Perform Other duties as assigned

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 + years in an Engineering role
  • OR a Masters’ degree and 3 + years in an Engineering Role
  • Understanding of metrology ability to use measuring tool, e.g. calipers, dial indicators, linear scales
  • Ability to learn new measuring techniques
  • Basic Computer Skills –Microsoft Office packages; Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Ability to stay on task and make an informed decision
  • Capable of thinking methodically and creatively
  • Detail oriented and dedicated to accuracy
  • Ability to read and follow directions, operation standards, and interpret drawings
  • Ability to work independently or within a team and minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Engineering degree (aerospace, industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, quality)
  • Understanding Pratt & Whitney's Quality Procedures, Quality Management Systems and experience using CORE tools
  • Experience with Solumina and7 SAP software
  • Demonstrated effective root cause determination skills, Red-X, Fault Tree, etc.
  • Experience in aerospace machining, forgings, castings, or composites
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements
  • Experience establishing and maintaining a quality management system, ideally AS9100

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
