Position Overview:

As part of Enterprise Services – Data & AI, the Gen AI Software Engineer develops and deploys generative AI applications and services that enhance decision-making, automate workflows, and scale across the enterprise. This hands-on role focuses on building robust, secure, and reusable AI solutions while collaborating with platform and applied AI teams.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop, deploy, and productionize generative AI applications and agentic systems.
  • Build CI/CD and automation pipelines to support AI workflows.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and governance for AI services using tools like Open Telemetry, MLflow, and Databricks.
  • Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems while ensuring reproducibility, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prototype and scale AI copilots, digital assistants, and multi-agent workflows.
  • Optimize AI pipelines for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
  • Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with generative AI frameworks, LLMs, and cloud AI platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with containers, CI/CD, and production deployment of AI services.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and governance in enterprise AI systems.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with policy-as-code, Responsible AI practices, and regulated environments (aerospace, defense, finance, healthcare).
  • Knowledge of model versioning, auditability, and enterprise integration patterns.

Work Location

This is a hybrid role, eligible candidates must reside within commuting distance from Farmington, CT, additional locations will be considered MA, TX, IA, CA

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
