The Computing Solutions department (CSD) within Displays, Computing and Networking (DCN) has an opening for a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer. CSD is responsible for the development and of new computing platforms that will serve as the basis for our next generation avionics products.
Our platforms employ the following technologies and interfaces; Airborne Electronic Hardware including FPGAs, ASICs and MPSo Cs. Avionics and processor interfaces including ARINC 429, Ethernet, AFDX, PCIe, CAN, RS-232, DDR, I2C, SPI.
What You Will Do:
-
Responsibilities will include circuit card and sub-level module development, product certification, product transition, and product sustainment over the life cycle of the design.

Responsible for design team technical execution and meeting stakeholder requirements
-
Responsible for communication with our internal and external customers and coordination with the domain architects for the execution
-
Responsible for executing solutions with a product line focus and striving to generate reuse and reapplication of the product line artifact lifecycle data.
-
This position will provide an opportunity for hardware architect responsibilities as the product line customer base expands.
-
Opportunity for project engineering and control account management (PE/CAM) functions.
-
5-10% travel as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
-
Hardware domain leadership through all stages of design lifecycle
-
Hardware civil certification experience (DO-254, DO-297)
-
Hardware requirements development including working with systems and subsystems teams to determine meaningful and testable requirements for the design
-
Design experience interfacing with complex embedded devices (microprocessors, graphics processors, memory)
-
Experience working with standard lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs
-
Experience with schematic capture of digital/analog mixed signal electrical circuit designs
-
Understanding of Design to Cost (DTC+), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT)
Qualifications We Prefer:

Printed board (PWB) layout expertise

Formal qualification experience (DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461 standards)

Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently on assigned tasks

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
