As a Staff Software Engineer, you will balance the role of an individual contributor while also anchoring new projects, leading technical direction and mentoring other engineers on the team. About Finhub:

Fin Hub is at the core of Coinbase, processing and recording fund movements for our clients and our business. We are responsible for processing transactions across crypto, fiat and internal wallet, and managing the assets for our users including providing portfolio performance, user tax optimizations etc. With rapid growth of the industry and the company, our scale and complexity of operations quickly surpassed the original design of typical ledgering systems. Currently, we are taking on a challenge to unlock the next level of evolution for fund movements architecture. This is a unique opportunity to redesign foundational systems that will set Coinbase up for success in the next decade.

What you'll be doing:

• Architect and develop next generation book and records system that power Coinbase
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers

What we look for in you:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• You've built fault tolerant, highly reliable systems at scale
• You've experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• You have experience applying these skills to Ledgering or Trading systems at scale.
• You're passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together

Nice to haves:

• Have experience with Aeron, Raft, high performance Java
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with d Apps or blockchain-based services.
• You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)

Pay Transparency Notice:

The target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

$217,900-$217,900 CAD
