At Cleveland Clinic, Surgical Technologists are vital members of the operating room team, helping create a safe and efficient environment where exceptional patient care begins. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with surgeons and registered nurses while supporting advanced surgical procedures within our Neuro/Spine OR. Your expertise, precision and commitment to excellence will directly impact the care of patients throughout their surgical journey.
As a Surgical Technologist, responsibilities include preparing the operating room, ensuring sterile supplies and equipment are available, setting up and maintaining the sterile field, performing surgical counts, assisting with gowning and gloving of surgical team members, draping patients, participating in surgical timeouts, maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures, and properly collecting and handling surgical specimens.
Surgical Technologist – Neuro/Spine OR Responsibilities Include:

Set up and maintain the sterile field, ensuring appropriate supplies, medications and equipment are available for procedures.

Assist the RN with accurate counts of sponges, instruments and other surgical items at required intervals.

Assist surgical team members with gowning, gloving and patient preparation.

Maintain aseptic technique and support a safe surgical environment throughout procedures.

Participate in intraoperative surgical timeouts to promote patient safety.

Collect, identify and label specimens obtained during procedures and provide them to the circulator for appropriate handling.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Completion of a military surgical technology program meets the educational requirements of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.

Certification required for candidates who have not completed an accredited Surgical Technology program:
-
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $28.50
Maximum hourly: $39.00
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
