Within the Radiation Oncology Department, your work as a Radiation Therapist is crucial to the functioning, organization and efficiency of patient care delivery. You will interact directly with patients, providing daily treatments and evaluations as needed. Alongside the Dosimetrist, physician, RNs and PSS, you will address any discrepancies or adjustments in treatment plans according to the unique needs and goals of patients. In this role, you can build meaningful, impactful relationships with everyone you meet, helping facilitate a welcoming and warm healthcare environment for all.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform the duties of a Radiation Therapist I and administer radiation therapy treatments to patients of all ages.
-
Serve as a technical resource for other therapists by developing processes and troubleshooting equipment problems.
-
Provide therapy aids and/or training related to equipment and/or department operations for new and existing employees as the need arises (e.g., changes in equipment, procedures, etc.).
-
Assist the manager with operations of Radiation Oncology Department, including supervision and scheduling of employees and students.
-
Help ensure compliance with policies and procedures and maintain quality assurance standards for assigned work area.
-
Interview, select, supervise, instruct and evaluate Radiation Therapist I employees and students in assigned clinical area.

Assist manager in ensuring that Radiation Therapists are compliant with Cleveland Clinic, ODH, JCAHO, CMS, policies and procedures in assigned area.

Assume timekeeping responsibilities and oversee scheduling to ensure coverage, minimize overtime and maximize productivity.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Graduate from a School of Radiation Therapy Technology approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEA) or registry eligible

Board Certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing

Current state licensure if required by law
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
-
Three years of experience as a Registered Radiation Therapist with demonstrated leadership ability and problem-solving skills in Radiation Oncology and/or prior training/education

Physical Requirements:

Requires extensive sitting and dexterity to perform work on a PC, and the ability to walk to parts of various hospital campuses to attend meetings.

Must have normal or corrected vision, and the ability to verbally communicate to upper level management.

Occasional lifting of 5 to 15 pounds.
