Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Polysomnographic Technician Apprentice functions as a trainee and follows established policies and procedures to support functions essential to the operations of the Sleep Lab. The Polysomnographic Technician Apprentice will receive training and instruction to perform polysomnographic testing. The apprenticeship program will help build, develop, and train aspiring individuals into a successful healthcare career.
The apprenticeship is slated to start Monday, March 23 2026.
Hours Night shift M-F 6pm – 7am, If at Main Campus. 3 – 13 hour shifts, Sunday – Tuesday, or Wednesday to Friday..
Location: Initial training may be at Main Campus. Additional coverage and flexibility is needed and a home base close to home is at least attempted by management.

Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients and equipment for ordered testing.
- Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
- Performs and documents testing.
- Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
- Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies.
- Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred - current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading either to an Associate's degree or certificate with an emphasis on polysomnography.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association required upon hire or to be obtained within 6-months of hire.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Minimum six months direct patient care experience preferred.
- One year healthcare-related post-secondary education may substitute for stated experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients.
- Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
