The Pharmacy Technician – Community supports daily operations within an open-door outpatient pharmacy serving a broad patient population. This role is responsible for filling prescriptions, managing inventory, stocking medications, answering phones, and assisting customers at the register. Working as part of a collaborative team, the technician helps ensure efficient workflow, accurate medication distribution, and a positive patient experience.
A caregiver in this role will work various day shifts. Only two technicians on the weekends and they rotate about every 5th weekend. They would get off another weekday when working a weekend.
This Pharmacy is open: 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday
Closed Sundays
9am to 1pm on Saturdays
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
- Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
- Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
- Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
- Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
- Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
- Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).

- It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Six months of hospital experience
- Prior outpatient experience
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
