This position will service various counties from Eastern Cuyahoga, Geauga County and Portage County. The cities can vary but it will be Cleveland, Middlefield, Hiram, Brecksville, Sagamore Hills, Independence and others surrounding them.
As a Physical Therapist at Cleveland Clinic, you will utilize various treatments and exercises to help patients increase strength, range of motion, endurance and coordination in the comfort of their homes. Since this position requires close interaction, you will have the opportunity to build strong patient relationships and enhance their overall experience. Often, your patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is important. By showing compassion and patience, you can assist patients in regaining the drive they need to work hard and heal.
A caregiver in this position work Monday through Friday from 8: 00am – 5:00pm. Caregivers are required to work 12 Saturdays, six Sundays and one annual holiday weekend. If a weekend is worked, a scheduled day off will be granted.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments.
- Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care.
- Perform physical therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills appropriate for the patient’s age and condition.
- Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support caregivers.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times regarding patient condition and the effectiveness and timeliness of care and interventions.
- Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary assessments of assigned patients.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
- Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Valid Driver’s License (VDL) and proof of $100,000/$300,000 automobile insurance coverage
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of clinical experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist in an acute, rehab or skilled nursing setting

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
- Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
- Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
- Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
- Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
- Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
- Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
