The Float Pool provides a unique experience for caregivers to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. As an LPN, you will provide basic bedside care to these patients, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this position works part-time| evenings| 11: 00am—11:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am| rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
-
Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
-
Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
-
Perform routine laboratory tests.
-
Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program
-
Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
If in an ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
-
If in an ED, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
1 year of patient care experience
-
1-2 years of acute care/variety of patient experience
Physical Requirements:
-
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
-
Involves extensive standing and walking.
-
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
-
Medium Work
-
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
-
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
