The Payroll Analyst 2 is a developing professional position. In this role, the individual will partner closely with employees, Human Resources, Finance, and external vendors to manage and resolve complex payroll, HR‑related, finance, and vendor inquiries and transactions. The position requires the ability to work effectively within established service‑level agreements, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and deliver accurate, timely results while communicating clearly on sensitive and critical pay‑related matters.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with proven experience in problem solving, evaluating business processes, and analyzing payroll data. A solid understanding of North America (NAM) payroll processing is required.

Key responsibilities include end‑to‑end payroll processing and settlement in Workday, file balancing and reconciliation, payroll review and inquiry resolution, research and resolution of complex payroll issues, and reconciliation of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

This role requires exceptional customer service skills, frequent telephone and email interaction, strong attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy and analytical capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Process end‑to‑end payroll activities, including payroll completion and settlement, within Workday
  • Perform file balancing, payroll reconciliation, and detailed payroll reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Reconcile payroll and pay‑related data, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and audit requirements
  • Research and resolve complex payroll issues, providing clear and accurate solutions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, Human Resources, Finance, and external vendors regarding complex payroll, HR‑related, finance, and vendor inquiries and transactions
  • Communicate effectively with customers on sensitive and critical pay‑related matters
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently while meeting established service‑level agreements (SLAs)
  • Evaluate payroll data and business processes to identify discrepancies, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Works with other team members on established projects and initiatives.
  • Performs more complex tasks in support of the team manager and area projects as assigned.
  • Works under little to no direct supervision and supports an expansive and/or diverse array of products/services.
  • Coaches and trains more junior payroll specialists.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years relevant payroll experience
  • Strong working knowledge of North America (NAM) payroll processing
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret and evaluate complex payroll data
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately in a deadline‑driven environment
  • Excellent customer service skills with frequent professional telephone and email interaction
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to address sensitive payroll matters confidently and professionally
  • Experience with Workday payroll processing preferred
  • Excellent Excel Skills
  • Preferred Workday experience
