Markets Operations Belfast Overview:
Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business. We support a wide range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with external clients, playing a key role in the overall client experience.

Role Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic team players, with a strong work ethic, to join our Markets Operations team.
The Operations Analyst role involves working in the Global Margin Department, processing transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices. The overall objective of this role is to assist in the prompt payment of transactions and the investigation of any issues that may arise. This involves working with data, investigating, and resolving problems and communicating with colleagues, to complete transactions.
Working within a fast paced, operational environment means that your activity really counts towards your team’s ability to achieve their targets.
No banking experience is required, we will teach you everything you need to know.
Responsibilities:
- Check and verify information to ensure accuracy of transactions.
- Generate and match transactions under general supervision.
- Direct transaction processing issues to the appropriate department and collaborate on solutions.
- Support the preparation and submission of internal and external regulatory reports.
- Perform multiple transactions of moderate complexity.
- Interpret data and apply analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis.
- Identify policy gaps and makes suggestions to support the streamlining of related work processes.
- Develop a good understanding of products and processes, and industry practices and standards.
- Apply a good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the wider team/working group.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, with whom you may exchange potentially complex/sensitive information to progress work and resolve issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Minimise risk to the bank through knowledge of procedural requirements - understand and monitor errors to suggest solutions to reduce errors, and to adhere to audit and control policies demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, through compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Evidence of ability to manage multiple tasks and working towards deadlines.
- Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise and can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform a range of tasks/projects
- Comfortable with working in a team environment and being initiative-taking in recommending improvements to existing processes.
- Able to drive own performance and willing to learn.
- Can manage time effectively.
- Has a creative and have a structured approach to problem solving.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word)
- Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to partner with other teams to provide innovative solutions.

- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage competing deadlines.
- Relevant experience preferred but not necessary.
Education:
- GCSE English & Maths at Grade C and above.
