About the Team

Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues. Corporate Communications is a nimble team in ESPA that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, including executive communications, public engagements, media relations and corporate reputation programs. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal communications for a global workforce of more than 200,000 colleagues. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of ESPA across the world.

The SVP, Sustainability Communications will manage Citi’s internal and external communications efforts related to its sustainability work and leaders’ executive visibility. This role requires a broad and comprehensive communications expertise, interacts with senior stakeholders, and requires the ability to prioritize high-impact communications work in an ever-evolving landscape. Excellent relationship-management skills are required to influence and effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee internal and external communications focused on sustainability
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy that enhances and protects Citi’s profile and reputation and reflects its strategic priorities
  • Maintain media relations through short-and-long-term strategies to elevate Citi and its relevant executives across financial, business, trade and consumer media outlets
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key media outlets
  • Mange the development and production of a variety of communications materials, including company messaging and statements, colleague memos, communications plans, press releases, blog posts, FAQs, and other collateral
  • Work cross-functionally with many teams across Citi, including business lines and other functional areas

Qualifications and Education

  • 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably within a global company or agency
  • In-depth familiarity with both media relations and internal communications
  • Experience pitching financial, business, technology, and industry publications
  • Subject matter expertise in Sustainability is a plus
  • Ability to synthesize complex concepts to create key messages that are consistent but tailored to various stakeholders
  • Strong and prolific writing and editing skills
  • Skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects and activities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced corporate environment with sensitive information
  • Takes initiative, anticipates next steps and sets high standards in all he/she does
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience working with stakeholders cross-functionally and globally
  • Creative, thoughtful approach to work product and regularly brings forward new ideas
  • Persuasive when presenting to larger groups or in regular meetings, both internally and externally
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, and a positive professional attitude
