Team/Role Overview

The Legal Support Specialist is a non-attorney role, responsible for providing legal support to the Citi Technology, Operations & Privacy Legal team, which covers technology transactions, digital banking, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and data privacy. The team also focuses on issues surrounding AI and emerging technologies.  This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with an understanding of and/or interest in these subject matter areas.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct legal support activities related to technology transactions, digital banking, intellectual property, cybersecurity, data privacy, AI, and emerging technologies.

  • Support intellectual property attorneys by performing patent and trademark docketing; managing trademark clearance, renewals, and agreements; reviewing marketing content for proper trademark use; and supporting trademark and copyright enforcement matters.

  • Support technology transactions attorneys by creating, maintaining, processing, reviewing, and tracking legal documentation and templates for contractual and other matters.

  • Support cybersecurity and data privacy attorneys by assisting with the disposition of information security incidents and/or data privacy events.

  • Perform analytical work and legal research while staying abreast of new and changing regulatory and legal issues and industry initiatives.

  • Conduct administrative legal work, including managing team projects, preparing reports, and processing billing matters.

  • Execute multiple and complex tasks, often under tight deadlines.

  • Consider process improvements, including responsible use of AI, to assist in the completion of job responsibilities.

  • Help safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

What we’ll need from you

  • Bachelors/University degree

  • 3 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, timeliness, efficiency, responsiveness, and workload management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

  • Knowledge of legal customs and practices.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and high-volume practice, prioritize competing demands, and problem solve creatively.
