We are currently seeking an Investment Counselor (IC) to join our Middle East team. You will closely collaborate with our Private Bankers and product partners to provide investment services to Citi’s ultra-high new worth clients and family offices.
The role will involve advising clients on portfolios, asset allocation, capital markets solutions, money markets, and alternatives (inl. Private Equity and Hedge Funds). Citi Private Bank has an extensive, global investment product platform, and the Investment Counselor acts as the primary conduit to it.
The IC works in close partnership with the client’s banker, as well as our trading, product, risk & compliance partners. The objective is to deliver excellent advice and solutions to our clients, within the overall framework of the Private Bank’s strategy and operating model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investment professionals joining Citi Private Bank will be accomplished at establishing, growing and managing investment relationships with ultra-high net worth clients, defined as holding AUM of $25MM or more with Citi Private Bank.
- They should be experienced in the implementation and oversight of investment solutions, and in providing advice and guidance on markets and actionable investment ideas.
- Appropriate candidates will possess the credibility to cultivate trusting relationships with existing ultra-high net worth clients of Citi Private Bank and should be entrepreneurial and supportive of bringing in new clients/investment relationships.
- Candidates for the position should be collaborative and team oriented, able to leverage a wide array of internal partners.
- Combine in depth knowledge of traditional and alternative investments with wealth planning and private banking services to optimize client service and cross-marketing opportunities.
- Work across currencies, asset classes, markets and jurisdictions.
- Engage and advise clients on brokerage activity and execute trades seamlessly.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum five years of experience in the financial industry, preferably in a trading or advisory role.
- Investment, banking and either portfolio management or trading experience.
- Excellent relationship building skills, both with clients, and across hierarchical levels and other functions
- Ability to cope with ambiguity & change.
- Ability to challenge status quo and continuously optimize processes and tasks in own area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate Degree Educated or equivalent preferred, however exceptional candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
- CFA or equivalent registration preferred.
- Will be expected to complete relevant regulatory qualifications.
- Fluent English; Arabic preferred
