This position is for an L2 Manager within the LATAM Sanctions Hub, a critical role essential for maintaining robust compliance with global sanctions regulations. The person will provide direct oversight and strategic leadership to the team responsible for the review and disposition of alerts generated from screening transactions against regulatory sanctions lists. The overall objective is to manage a L2 Sanctions operations team, apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge to reach solutions and ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team complies with productivity and quality goals.
  • Process L2 Sanctions alerts as per business goal.
  • Create strategies for TAT.
  • Review process notes and ensure that are updated accordingly.
  • Analyze complex and variable issues to resolve issues and ensure team deliverables meet performance and quality expectations
  • Manage performance, identify areas of development/training and make recommendations.
  • Serve as backup to the L2 Sanctions Senior Manager
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years of experience in a related to Sanctions operations role
  • In-depth disciplinary knowledge of global sanctions regulations and the ability to apply this knowledge to effectively review and dispose of alerts, ensuring robust compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direct oversight and strategic leadership to a team, manage performance, identify development areas, and ensure team deliverables meet productivity and quality goals.
  • Strong capability to appropriately assess risk in business decisions, safeguard company reputation and assets, drive compliance with regulations and policies, and effectively supervise and maintain accountability within the team.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English and Spanish) required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to manage, organize, and develop a high-performing operational team, including overseeing productivity targets (e.g., contributing to a team target of 250 daily hits).
  • Non-Technical Initiatives: Opportunity to lead and implement process improvement initiatives across LATAM and global regions.
  • Global Operational Acumen: Experience in organizing and adapting team processing for diverse regions (LATAM, NAM, APAC, EMEA) to manage varying volumes.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding and practical experience with OFAC and SDN lists.
  • Strong Collaborator: A dedicated team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
