Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Junior Rates Trader to join our dynamic trading team. The successful candidate will support senior traders in managing and executing trades in fixed income markets, including government bonds, interest rate swaps, and other rates products. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop a career in financial markets, gaining hands-on experience and a deep understanding of rates trading strategies and market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist senior traders in executing trades across various rates products, ensuring accuracy and adherence to risk limits.

Monitor global financial markets, economic indicators, and geopolitical events to identify potential trading opportunities and risks.

Conduct quantitative analysis, build financial models, and perform scenario analysis to support trading decisions.

Prepare daily market commentaries, trade summaries, and performance reports for senior management.

Maintain and enhance trading tools and systems, including data analysis platforms and proprietary models.

Collaborate with sales, research, and technology teams to improve trading efficiency and generate new business ideas.

Ensure compliance with all internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Participate in training and development programs to continuously enhance product knowledge, market understanding, and technical skills.

Assist in back-testing trading strategies and optimizing execution algorithms.

Manage and reconcile trading positions, P&L, and risk exposures.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

Strong academic record, preferably with coursework in financial engineering, statistics, or econometrics.

Demonstrated interest in financial markets, particularly fixed income and interest rates.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or VBA is highly desirable.

Familiarity with financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv) and trading platforms.

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Prior internship experience in trading, risk management, or a related financial role is a plus.

Technical Skills: Financial modeling, statistical analysis, data manipulation, proficiency in Excel.

Market Knowledge: Basic understanding of fixed income products, derivatives, and macroeconomic factors influencing rates markets.

Soft Skills: Critical thinking, adaptability, initiative, strong work ethic, and a passion for learning.
Training and Development: The selected candidate will undergo a structured training program covering market fundamentals, trading strategies, risk management, and regulatory compliance, with continuous mentorship from experienced traders.
