Citi's Spread Products business is seeking a strong leader to serve as the Head of the Spread Products Investments in Technology (SPRINT) team. SPRINT is the strategic venture and partnership arm of Spread Products, directly the supporting the Asset Backed Financing & Securitization (ABF&S) teams by connecting and working with specialty fintech lenders.

The Head of SPRINT will be responsible for defining and executing the overall investment and partnership strategy, leading the team, and managing the entire lifecycle of engagements with high-growth fintech startups. This is a senior leadership role that requires a combination of deep investment expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to foster innovation at the intersection of finance and technology, while managing a global team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of seven professionals. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture, and oversee resource allocation and professional development for the team.

Strategic Vision & Mandate: Define and execute the overall investment strategy and mandate for SPRINT, ensuring alignment with the broader strategic objectives of Citi's Spread Products and F&S business.

Investment Governance: Oversee the team's end-to-end investment process, from deal sourcing and due diligence to execution, portfolio management, and exit strategies. Implement and manage a robust governance framework for all investment activities, including deep engagement with second-line partners.

Senior Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders across Citi, including business heads and control functions. Provide regular, insightful updates on portfolio performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives.

Portfolio Oversight & Value Creation: Provide strategic guidance to the team on the management of the investment portfolio. Drive value creation by identifying and facilitating strategic partnerships and commercial opportunities between portfolio companies and various business lines within Citi.

External Relations & Industry Leadership: Represent Citi and SPRINT at the highest levels within the global Fin Tech, venture capital, and private credit ecosystems. Cultivate and maintain a network of senior-level contacts with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other strategic investors.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or a related investment field, with a significant portion of that time in a leadership capacity.

  • Track Record: A proven track record of leading successful investment teams, sourcing and executing deals, and managing a portfolio of venture investments through to successful exits.

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep expertise and a strong network within the Fin Tech, private credit, and real estate technology landscapes.

  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with demonstrated experience in managing and developing a global and diverse team.

  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop a long-term investment vision, and execute against it.

  • Communication & Influence: Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among senior internal and external stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
