The Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Rates Risk Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities to extend the global Rates Risk engine , aligned with Front Office initiatives linked to trade valuations for interest rate derivatives, trading tools, live re-evaluation of risk, and P&L analysis.
While located in Tokyo Japan, the person in this role will be supporting local, but also global and Asia regional projects for the Rates business. The position will provide opportunity to interact with front office, market risk, product control, quants, and with other technology teams spread across the globe.
This challenging role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with business users to gather requirements, develop high quality technical solutions and prototypes, assist in testing and rollout, as well as providing technical expertise to the business.
The types of projects undertaken by the team range from business process automation to large scale risk and valuation impacting changes. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work within Rates Risk Technology, cooperating with multiple trading desks, market risk managers and financial controllers to develop this strategically important platform.
In this role, you’re expected to:
- Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
- Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
- Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
- Utilise knowledge and previous experience building applications or processes using Object-oriented programming languages
- Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
- Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
- Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Technical skills: :
- Solid understanding of software development fundamentals including data structures, design patterns and object-orientated programming.
- Proficiency in core Java (8 years of experience) with demonstrable success in developing multi-threaded applications.
- Proven ability to develop clean, testable code.
- Understanding of relational database concepts and knowledge in SQL.
- Understanding of time series database concepts and knowledge in Q language
- Experience with Jira, Git/Bitbucket, Gradle and CI/CD tools, e.g. Team City and Urban Code Deploy.
- Knowledge of fixed income products, customer and broker market platforms and trading protocols desirable
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development
- Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree with a relevant major : Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering.
