Production Solutions Engineering and Architecture is an essential role focused on enhancing productivity and optimizing operating models within Citi's Production Management organization. It is responsible for the strategic development and integration of solutions designed to address complex support challenges across all of Citi’s core businesses by architecting advanced, firm-wide solutions, engineering deep-tech integrations, and establishing unifying processes and tools.

A key aspect of this role involves the strategic development of solutions. This includes designing, developing, and implementing complex engineering solutions that seamlessly integrate into Citi’s production environment, resolving essential support challenges. Furthermore, the role drives and engineers advanced technical integrations across diverse internal systems, ensuring both scalability and resilience of these solutions. Efforts are also focused on building and standardizing unifying processes and tools to optimize workflows for Production Management teams.

Beyond solution development, this position also holds responsibility for leadership in engineering practices. This entails championing and instilling robust engineering practices, standards, and methodologies throughout the Production Management organization. A crucial part of this leadership is to recruit, build, and lead high-performing engineering teams dedicated to delivering bespoke solutions.

Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Possess a strong understanding of SRE principles, DevOps practices, and relevant technologies to effectively guide and support engineering teams.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Analytical Thinking: Demonstrate a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making, utilising metrics, and performance indicators to assess team efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Leadership: Exhibit strong leadership qualities, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, providing guidance and mentorship to team members, and promoting a culture of continuous learning.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to understand and address the needs of various stakeholders, including engineers, product managers, and business partners.
  • Process Improvement: Proven experience in streamlining workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing process enhancements to optimise efficiency and productivity.
  • Budget Management: Familiarity with budgeting and cost control practices, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints while maintaining quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality assurance principles and best practices to ensure deliverables meet defined standards and specifications.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, quickly adapting to changing priorities and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement industry best practices to shape the development of components and software portfolios through standards and well-architected designs.
  • Collaborate with domain-specific engineers and architects to define a solution.
  • Responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials required for deep-tech integration.
  • Design, develop and execute software solutions to address complex technical problems.
  • Contribute to the development of new principles and theories.
  • Ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance with stakeholders.
  • Provide technical management and lead system development initiatives to ensure complex solutions are deeply integrated.
  • Lead a team to technical consensus on stability and reliability studies, and performance analyse proposed solutions.
  • Evaluate existing systems and requirements to analyse, design, recommend, and implement complex solutions.
  • Coordinate designs of subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on engagements with firm-wide stakeholders of SMBF PM.
  • Collaborate to deliver architectural coherence and support performance, safety, modularity, redundancy, quality trade-off analysis of the solutions.
  • Work alongside business leaders to solve complex client challenges.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure implementation aligns with architecture.
  • Participate in the evaluation and introduction of new technologies.
  • Responsible for the write up of the technical portion of proposals.
  • Support and guide integration architecture governance team and practices in accordance with Citi’s Tech Strategy.
  • Mentor and work with domain-related architects, developers, and testers throughout projects.
  • Coordinate the prioritization of engineering analysis to mitigate technical and program risks.
  • Ensure alignment of solutions with business objectives and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (computer science or related fields) or equivalent experience in building scalable solutions to improve the service reliability and/or increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Experience with object-oriented or scripting programming languages such as Java or Python to build DevOps/SRE solutions.
  • Experience with agile systems development methodologies.
  • 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Organisational and analytical skills.
