Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting for the Asset Servicing Analyst, an entry-level position in our Operations division, offering a dynamic start to a career in financial services. This position provides extensive exposure to a diverse array of financial products, including Japanese stocks, Japanese bonds, foreign securities, and investment trusts. The role focuses on processing Corporate Action events and Income Processing (dividends, interest, and redemptions) for our Japanese clients. Successful candidates will rapidly develop a foundational understanding of asset servicing operations, procedures, and systems, collaborating across teams to ensure accurate and timely processing. This role requires close partnership with Global teams, as well as internal Settlement, Middle Office, and Business teams, to effectively support business operations.
In this role, you are expected to:
- Perform comprehensive Income Processing activities, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement for all income types, including investment trust dividends, interest, and redemptions.
- Handle Corporate Action events from announcement to payment, processing communications, notifications, and facilitating postings.
- Execute regulatory controls, perform account reconciliations, and manage record retention in line with established policies and market practices in Japan.
- Prepare and submit periodic internal and external regulatory reports relevant to asset servicing.
- Coordinate and resolve processing issues related to corporate actions and income, collaborating closely with Global teams and relevant internal departments.
- Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues, stakeholders, and Japanese clients, fostering strong relationships across teams.
- Apply analytical thinking and data analysis skills to identify process improvements and support project implementation.
- Support a range of products/services and projects under general supervision, working with Global teams for seamless execution.
- Develop a strong understanding of asset servicing products, processes, and industry standards specific to the Japanese financial market.
- Apply a good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others to achieve broader departmental objectives.
- Minimize operational risk by strictly adhering to procedures, proactively monitoring errors, and ensuring full compliance with audit and control policies.
- Ensure timely escalation of all requests, inquiries, issues, and errors to appropriate channels.
- Appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup's reputation and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and transparently escalating, managing, and reporting control issues.
Qualifications
As a successful candidate, you will ideally have the following skills and exposure:
- Experience: Relevant experience (entry-level, 2 years preferred) in financial services operations, particularly in asset servicing or corporate actions.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Japanese (native or business level for both written and spoken communication) and business-level English is required.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with excellent collaborative and proactive team player attributes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and effective communication.
- Risk Management: Strong risk management and control mindset, with proven ability to perform various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access is desired).
- Interest: Strong interest in and aptitude for understanding diverse investment instruments, including Japanese equities, Japanese bonds, foreign securities, and investment trusts.
- Education: Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.
