This leader will play a pivotal role in integrating Smart Equine with Chewy, ensuring seamless performance across manufacturing, fulfillment, and customer delivery. Smart Equine represents a key investment in Chewy's strategy to expand owned-brand capabilities and strengthen our position across the equestrian and companion-animal markets. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership, thrives in a dynamic environment, and brings a data-driven, continuous-improvement mentality to every aspect of the business.

Site & Operations Leadership

  • Own all aspects of site operations, including manufacturing, fulfillment, safety, quality, maintenance, janitorial and the sites financial performance.
  • Lead a diverse, multi-shift workforce of managers and associates to achieve productivity, cost, and service goals.
  • Build a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and innovation.
  • Serve as the site’s primary Operations leader, ensuring alignment with operational strategy and performance standards.

Manufacturing & Blending Operations

  • Oversee the blending and production of Smart Paks, managing the full lifecycle from raw material receipt through finished goods packaging, storage and fulfillment,.
  • Lead production planning, scheduling, and line performance to meet demand forecasts and maintain supply continuity.
  • Partner with quality and technical teams to ensure product integrity, consistency, and traceability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in material flow, space utilization, and process efficiency between manufacturing and fulfillment.
  • Ensure fixed assets, equipment, and production technologies are properly maintained and optimized for future growth.

Hybrid Operations: Manufactured & Third-Party Products

  • Manage an integrated operation that includes both in-house–produced goods and third-party–sourced products (hardgoods, apparel, and tack) fulfilled within the same facility.
  • Balance throughput, labor, and inventory priorities across manufacturing and resale categories to improve service and efficiency.
  • Coordinate production and fulfillment activities to ensure seamless flow between blending, packaging, and shipping.
  • Align closely with Chewy’s supply chain and merchandising teams to maintain strong inventory integrity and exceptional customer service.

Strategic Growth & Integration

  • Lead the operational integration of the Smart Equine program alongside Chewy, developing scalable frameworks for safety, quality, performance, and culture.
  • Identify and implement automation, technology, and process enhancements that improve cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Champion innovation and cross-functional collaboration to support the growth of Chewy’s Health & Wellness and Hardgoods businesses.
  • Act as a key partner in developing Chewy’s long-term owned-brand production and distribution strategy by crafting the approach.

People Development & Culture

  • Build, mentor, and develop a strong leadership team that models Chewy’s values and fosters a high-performance culture.
  • Lead change management efforts as Smart Equine transitions into Chewy’s network, building cohesion across legacy and new teams.
  • Drive engagement through communication, recognition, and transparent goal-setting.
  • Ensure succession planning and leadership development are embedded at all levels of the organization.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fulfillment, manufacturing, or distribution operations.
  • Proven success leading large-scale teams with responsibility for both production and fulfillment functions.
  • Expertise in production planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated success leading through change and building new operational capabilities.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to travel periodically for business needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk up to 2 miles per shift.
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds (team lift).
  • Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.
  • Climb stairs as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in equine, pet, or related manufacturing and fulfillment environments.
  • Background in post-acquisition integration or operational scale-up.
  • Passion for building high-performing, people-first teams that deliver measurable results.
