  • Assess pet readiness and performance in real time, adapting approach based on behavior, environment, and production needs

  • Act as the primary advocate for pet talent, identifying stress signals and making decisions to protect animal welfare, including pausing or adjusting production when needed

  • Partner cross-functionally with Production, Creative, and Studio teams to align on expectations and propose solutions when challenges arise

  • Lead training and preparation efforts, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to build behaviors required for production

  • Develop and execute training plans to shape new or complex behaviors

  • Support casting strategy by evaluating pet suitability, conducting studio tests, and maintaining detailed behavioral profiles

  • Contribute to sourcing efforts, building relationships with pet parents and identifying new talent opportunities

  • Communicate proactively with internal teams to set pets up for success and provide alternative approaches when needed

  • Ensure safety standards are upheld across all interactions between pets, people, and the studio environment

  • Provide guidance and support to team members, including freelance and full-time staff, to maintain consistency in handling practices

  • Maintain pet holding areas and ensure environments are clean, safe, and organized

  • Support additional Pet Talent Team responsibilities as needed

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years of professional experience working with animals in a training, handling, or production environment

  • Experience working with dogs and cats is required; experience with additional species such as horses, birds, reptiles, and small mammals is a plus

  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and positive reinforcement training techniques

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in fast-paced, dynamic environments

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

  • Commitment to animal welfare and safety standards

  • No animal allergies that would impact your ability to work with the animals

Bonus:

  • Experience supporting animals in production environments (photo, video, or live events)
