Job Description:

Our Opportunity:

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring the Company’s ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. This individual is responsible for analyzing, researching, and resolving issues and addressing related tax inquiries. This individual will specialize in payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside.  The ideal candidate will participate in special projects when required.

What You’ll Do:

  • Register companies in new tax jurisdictions for state/local/unemployment. Identify registration requirements and coordinate as needed.

  • Set up new tax jurisdictions in Workday and Smart Compliance. Maintain rates for unemployment in both systems.

  • Audit new and existing employees’ tax set up for accuracy.

  • Prepare and submit Federal and State Power of Attorney (POA) as needed to tax vendors.

  • Responsible for preparing and submitting data to agency or ADP for tax amendment filings as needed.

  • Review and correct tax errors identified in the periodic and quarterly data transmissions.

  • Responsible for QTR and YE process – Run payroll tax integrations, review information, research, and correct discrepancies.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual reconciliations of 941’s and W-3 totals against register.

  • Research year-end related requests and process corrections to wages/W2s.

  • Research and respond to payroll tax inquiries from employees, agencies, and other internal/external parties.

  • Review RSU’s tax template and perform federal/state tax deposits related to restricted stock payments.

  • Create new or modify existing payroll reports using Workday.

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual worker’s comp audit and tax incentive requests.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of tax planning projects and system testing.

  • Identify, research, test, implement, and develop training materials on QTR and YE tax processes; maintain internal policies and procedures in accordance with the law.

  • Subject matter expert on all payroll tax related issues.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in tax required.

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in payroll processes required.

  • Hands on and strong knowledge/experience with ADP Smart Compliance, Workday, and UKG.

  • Understanding of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll related matters required.

  • FPC or CPP certification, preferred.

  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word).

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment.

  • Dependable and punctual.

  • Payroll software implementation experience, preferred.

  • Experience with Workday HR/payroll integration and mass data change uploads (EIB), preferred.
