An Analyst I within the Risk Monitoring Team is responsible to execute the day to day operations based on the relevant policies and processes, to support the risk assessment and monitoring of our global e-commerce merchants’ portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing alerts generated by our in-house monitoring tools, performing analyses, liaising with internal/external stakeholders with the results of your findings and documenting the results of your investigation on our case management tool. Through the reviews you may identify and should be on the lookout for potentially fraudulent merchants and genuine merchants being victims of fraud and seek to mitigate risks in both scenarios. The ideal candidate enjoys dealing with figures and is diligent and inquisitive, with a thorough attention to detail. This role requires proficiency on Excel and an ability to approach problems in a quantitative and qualitative manner.

What your responsibilities will be

  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of acquiring risks and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of card schemes’ rules.

  • Perform background checks on merchants, leveraging internal tools and external resources to assess merchants’ businesses.

  • Identify risky business practices by merchants and present appropriate mitigations while using a risk-based approach.

  • Create and communicate reports to relevant stakeholders on any risk concerns regarding merchants.

  • Demonstrate a good ability to conduct independent investigations and identify anomalies within data.

  • Applies analytical skills to review suspicious transactional patterns and provide relevant risk actions/recommendations.

  • Suggest innovative ideas / feedback to enhance the process and infrastructure, striving for continuous improvement in acquiring risk monitoring operations.

What you will need to be successful (skills and competencies)

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Risk / Management / Finance / Business / Mathematics / Economics or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of experience in similar roles.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analysis and recommendation in a succinct manner.

  • Capable of adjusting to rapid-paced and agile settings, prepared to operate within demanding timelines and schedules.

  • Proficient in English (additional fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, or French is a plus).

  • Knowledge / experience in the payment processing industry, e-commerce landscape and card schemes’ rule is beneficial.

  • Ability and willingness to maintain knowledge and skills with an emphasis on continuous learning about new industry trends.

  • Demonstrates acute attention to detail.

  • As an Analyst you are expected to perform relevant analyses and conduct investigations for suspected fraudulent merchants and action on the flags in a timely manner.

  • You should possess strong verbal and written communication skills to document and articulate the requirements, analysis and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to the stakeholders and customers.

  • You must have a solution-driven approach with exemplary investigative and critical thinking skills.

  • You must also be detail-oriented multi-taskers who can work independently with little supervision, at the same time have good decision making, time management and organizational skills.
