Your opportunity
At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together.
In Compliance, we help our business partners achieve their strategic priorities by promoting principles and practices that build client trust and safeguard the integrity of the firm. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee our Digital Assets Compliance Program. This role will drive program development, risk assessment, surveillance, and controls across digital asset products and services. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in financial services regulation, compliance, and/or risk management, a strong understanding of blockchain technology and digital asset markets, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-evolving regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks for digital asset activities across the enterprise, including tokenization, custody, and trading.
- Advise business and control partners on product development, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate on design and implementation of surveillance and monitoring controls specific to digital assets.
- Engage with regulators (e.g., the Fed, OCC, FDIC, SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, NYDFS) and industry groups on regulatory requirements and expectations.
- Coordinate internal governance, testing, training, and reporting on digital asset compliance initiatives.
- Serve as subject matter expert and advisor across the firm on digital assets compliance matters.
Reports to: Managing Director and Head of Trading, Digital Assets, and AI Compliance
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of compliance, regulatory, and/or risk management experience in financial services, preferably including crypto-native or digital asset-focused institutions.
- Deep knowledge of digital asset regulations, including the Fed, OCC, FDIC, SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, and NYDFS.
- Experience with blockchain analytics and digital asset trading platforms, execution venues, custodians, and De Fi engagement models.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong judgment, communication skills, and ability to collaborate and operate with urgency and clarity in high-stakes, high-ambiguity environments.
- JD or relevant advanced degree.
