About the role:

Towards our long-lasting ambition to develop client-centric strategies, CHANEL is looking for our new Group Director, Client Data Product Owner, to join our data team in the Digital and CX department, based in New York City. The creation of this new position within CHANEL US follows our strategic direction to accelerate the usage of our client data platforms (mainly but not only relying on Salesforce Data Cloud) for our 3 divisions: Fragrance and Beauty, Fashion, and Watches & Fine Jewelry. This Group Director, Client Data Product Owner position, in strong partnership with CHANEL Tech, will play a pivotal role in maximizing the usage of our client data platform for the client intelligence and marketing teams, steering the spending of our corporate budget and resources allocations, attending and representing our 3 divisions on data corporate governance meetings to ensure that all global and regional initiatives are fitting our US division’s needs.

This role is at the intersection of Tech and our 3 divisions. Our ideal Client Data Product Owner candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in complex client or data product ownership & project management with a passion for navigating a matrix organization where leadership by influence is a key success factor.

What impact you can create at CHANEL:

Platform Ownership & Delivery

  • Act as the main business liaison for US client data platforms: Looker Analytics, Global Client Database (post-release 3.2 including analytics capabilities), and Salesforce Data Cloud (CDP)

  • Manage intake of new projects, backlog of requests, and platform evolution planning

  • Represent the US business voice in cross-regional meetings, offering solution-driven options and recommendations for sponsor decision-making

  • Ensure project delivery is on time, within budget, and meets quality standards

  • Global Client Database Collaboration: This role works closely with the Fashion teams to attend key meetings and leads all preparatory work across business teams—performing the heavy lifting with appropriate divisional approvals to ensure readiness and alignment

CRM System Optimization

  • Drive efficiencies across the 3 divisions by coordinating CRM system evolutions (e.g., sprint planning, corporate story point allocation, cross-division best practice sharing)

  • Maximize delivery output while respecting budget constraints

  • Support business teams in crafting effective briefs for third-party vendors to ensure solutions meet business needs.

  • Provide strategic input on platform roles within the broader Mar Tech strategy

Strategic Enablement & Innovation

  • Translate divisional strategies into actionable client data platform enhancements.

  • Maintain a healthy year-round pipeline of project requests and proactively prepare for sprint cycles

  • Provide guidance on new initiatives to optimize platform usage and performance

  • Project Request Form Ownership: Draft Project Request Forms for shared model story points and advise on those submitted by divisions

  • Cross-Functional Support: Support other corporate functions (e.g., Insights, Transformation Office) in the Project Request Form process when they have relevant projects or needs

Salesforce Data Cloud Expertise

  • Leverage deep end-user experience with Salesforce Data Cloud to advise divisions and challenge vendors to unlock platform potential

  • Act as a thought partner to CHANEL Tech, fostering innovation and continuous improvement

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Attend governance forums with division sponsors to promote transparency, collaboration, and a unified “One House” vision

  • Represent US client teams in Data Governance Committees for all Client Data domain requests

  • Prepare documentation and recommendations for business and tech sponsor decisions

​ What you will bring to the team:

  • Deep expertise in client data platforms and CRM ecosystems, and Mar Tech Strategy with a strong command of tools such as Salesforce Data Cloud, analytics platforms (Looker), and global client databases to maximize business value across divisions.

  • A proven ability to lead complex, cross functional initiatives in a matrix organization, effectively influencing stakeholders across Tech, Marketing, and the three divisions to drive alignment and delivery functional initiatives in a matrix organization

  • Strong strategic and operational leadership, capable of translating divisional strategies into actionable platform roadmaps while ensuring on time, on budget, and high-quality delivery

Position Logistics:

  • Based in New York City with hybrid work model – 3 days on-site minimum

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in complex client or data product ownership & project management

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A master’s degree is a plus

  • Fluency in French language strongly preferred

Compensation:

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $134,900-$200,000. A base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay may/will be offered for this position. Other components may/will include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
