About the Role
As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center environment.
This role sits within CBRE’s Critical and Technical Services function, responsible for delivering technical maintenance services in mission-critical client environments.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with daily site inspections of all mechanical & engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance
- Ensure the site’s environmental conditions provide a safe working environment
- Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed
- Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company processes, procedures, and regulations
- Alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet requirements under the Master Service Agreement
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment
- Monitor BMS systems and respond to HVAC/cooling-related issues
- Conduct building walkthroughs and take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve facility and plant faults and defects
- Follow established processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and perform routine quality checks
- Complete all required training to support successful job performance
- Work under close supervision, following clearly defined tasks, processes, and responsibilities
What You’ll Need
- Technical training in a relevant discipline (apprenticeship or equivalent) with 1–2 years of experience
- Mechanical / Cooling (HVAC) competence is required
- Ability to work shift patterns, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and management
- Ability to follow structured routines and procedures
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
- Basic math skills (percentages, simple calculations, etc.)
