About the Role
As a CBRE Union Facility Mechanic, you will support a major telecommunications client by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and critical facility infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring facility reliability, safety, and operational efficiency through preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs.
This position is part of CBRE's Engineering & Technical Services team, responsible for delivering exceptional maintenance and operational support in a mission-critical environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related building systems.
- Monitor facility equipment and infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
- Investigate equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to maintenance requests, equipment alarms, and emergency service situations.
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
- Coordinate and work alongside vendors and contractors performing maintenance or repair work.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain routine maintenance schedules and equipment operating documentation.
- Apply technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to resolve complex facility issues.
- Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE's RISE values.
- Support operational activities that contribute to overall facility performance and reliability.
What You'll Need
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of facility maintenance, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience maintaining commercial, industrial, telecommunications, manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively prioritize work assignments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- An inquisitive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to safely perform work in varying environmental conditions.
