About the Role:
As a CBRE Union Helper, you will perform non-technical general labor, facility support, and event-related services in support of building operations.
This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function and supports preventive maintenance, office moves, event setups, and day-to-day operational needs.
What You’ll Do
- Perform general labor work as assigned, including loading, unloading, and moving materials.
- Event Setup & Breakdown: Coordinate with internal teams and clients to set up and break down furniture for meetings, events, and conferences as needed.
- Facilitate office moves, including moving crates, assembling and disassembling furniture, and ensuring timely completion.
- Protect and handle furniture and equipment by wrapping items with protective pads or bubble wrap and packing fragile items securely.
- Loading & Unloading: Strategically load and unload furniture and materials to maximize space and prevent damage during transport.
- Furniture Services: Disassemble large furniture items (e.g., desks, bed frames, conference tables) prior to moves and reassemble them at their destination.
- Maintain accurate inventory lists to track furniture, equipment, and materials and ensure nothing is misplaced.
- Operate moving and material-handling equipment including dollies, hand trucks, straps, and ramps safely and effectively.
- Prepare conference rooms by arranging tables, chairs, and equipment; may assist with A/V setup and teardown.
- Perform light custodial duties and maintain the professional appearance of common areas and workspaces.
- Assist with grounds maintenance such as sweeping, raking, leaf blowing, or snow removal as required.
- Patrol facilities and report maintenance hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Respond promptly to emergency requests and escalate issues as necessary.
- Follow established procedures and safety standards for repetitive tasks and physical activities.
Key Requirements
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects, often 75+ lbs, repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Stamina & Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Consistent, dependable attendance to meet scheduled work and event timelines.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred for roles involving larger vehicles.
- Teamwork: Ability to coordinate closely with crew members to safely move large and bulky items through tight spaces.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions accurately.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work under supervision and develop skills within the role.
