We are hiring an Electrical Engineer – Automation & Information Technology to join** MWM**, a globally recognized brand specializing in gas engines and distributed power generation solutions. MWM is part of Caterpillar Inc., alongside Solar Turbines. A dedicated MWM entity is currently being established in Brno, which will serve as a hub for engineering and project execution globally.

Role Definition:

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert for electrical systems and automation. Your role bridges customer needs with technical solutions, focusing on electrical design and software development for gas gensets and related control systems. You will work closely with product support, service engineering, and external suppliers to deliver retrofit solutions, service tools, and continued product improvements. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape electrical and automation capabilities within MWM’s service engineering organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Transform customer requirements into electrical designs and software specifications (hardware & software).Define software architecture based on requirements, develop in-house or coordinate with students/suppliers.
  • Programming (e.g. in Python).
  • Develop software tools and PLC programs.
  • Manage external suppliers.
  • Perform product testing, including on a dedicated test bench.
  • Support design of electrical equipment for service products.
  • Maintain and update software for existing retrofit products.
  • Explore new areas of expertise such as:
  • Linux operating systems
  • Database queries (SQL, Snowflake)
  • Cloud systems (Microsoft Azure, AWS)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in software and hardware design or similar technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Ability to interpret and create wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with norms, standards, and regulations, and ability to translate them into specifications.
  • Proficiency in Python, PLC programming (Beckhoff TwinCAT 3), and wiring design tools.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
