About the role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be part of a global engineering team developing advanced embedded control solutions for Carrier’s products. This role plays a key part in designing and developing firmware that integrates embedded systems with cloud, mobile, and IoT technologies to deliver innovative solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about firmware development, emerging technologies, and the IoT space, with the ability to contribute to impactful, next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Developing embedded software for Carrier’s equipment and refrigeration control systems
  • Designing and implementing firmware solutions for embedded platforms
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including systems, hardware, validation, and manufacturing
  • Participating in Agile software development processes
  • Leading or supporting development projects and technical initiatives
  • Developing prototype and test software for validation purposes
  • Writing software specifications and test plans
  • Participating in design reviews, code inspections, and risk analysis activities
  • Supporting system integration and ensuring compliance with requirements
  • Balancing responsibilities between sustaining and new product development projects

Requirements
We are looking for people who are innovative, detail-oriented, and passionate about embedded systems and technology development. If this is you, get in touch.
As a minimum you must have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • Strong programming skills in C and/or C++
  • Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485)
  • Experience in software architecture, debugging, and design patterns
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience with connectivity protocols (Wi Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave)
  • Experience with Embedded Linux
  • Experience with ARM microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of configuration and version control systems (e.g., GitHub)
  • Experience with Model-Based Development (IBM Rhapsody, MATLAB/Stateflow)
  • Experience in HVAC or refrigeration systems
