About the role

Principal Associate, Internal Communications Lead, Talent Marketing

The Talent Marketing team helps inform and educate prospective talent, partners and our associates about life at Capital One, including our company culture, values and commitments to changing banking and the communities around us, for good.

We are looking for a Principal Associate, Internal Communications Lead to help us bridge the gap between our marketing strategy and recruiting reality. Your goal is simple: empower our recruiters. You’ll be the architect behind our internal talent messaging, gathering the stories and data that help our team connect with everyone from tech pros to new grads. You’ll provide the “why” behind what we do, giving our recruiters the tools they need to be authentic, informed, and inspiring ambassadors for our culture.

In this role you will:

Drive Recruiter Adoption & Engagement:

  • Foster the adoption of tools, templates and resources. You won’t just share information, you will empower our teams to hire the best talent on the planet.

  • Develop proactive communication strategies, moving recruiters from "passively aware" to "actively using" our brand assets and recruiter enablement platforms.

  • Build scalable templates, frameworks and guidance to ensure brand consistency across communications.

  • Ensure recruiters understand, embrace and utilize our full suite of marketing tools and that internal communication is clear and concise; providing a direct path to the resources recruiters need most.

Customize Narrative Frameworks & Develop Channel Strategy

  • Identify and manage preferred communications channels (newsletters, Slack, All-Hands) to effectively reach recruiters where they are.

  • Take complex brand strategies and distill them into talking points for external talent-facing teams.

  • Refine recruiter messaging for customized audiences, targeting different candidate profiles.

  • Keep our content library fresh while cycling in new materials and retiring old ones, ensuring that every piece of information recruiters use is on-brand and factually sound.

  • Explore how AI and digital mediums (audio, video, interactive guides, etc) can make information more digestible and engaging for our Talent Acquisition teams.

Strategic Partnership & Influence:

  • Develop high-impact, executive-ready materials to drive internal socialization and foster leadership alignment across broader enterprise goals.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to recruiting leaders, translating high-level marketing initiatives into actionable steps for their teams.

  • Collaborate with partners to uncover the best examples of our culture in action, turning those insights into ‘must-have’ closing materials and a simplified Talent Brand toolkit that serves as the primary resource library for all recruiters.

Measure & Optimize:

  • Move beyond "open rates" to measure the actual adoption and utilization of talent brand tools and resources.

  • Conduct regular "Empathy Interviews" to solicit recruiter feedback to continuously improve how we enhance materials, deliver resources and communicate updates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years experience in content creation, copywriting, communications, journalism or mass communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field

  • At least 5 years experience in long-form and short-form copywriting

  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Work experience achieving results with complex projects.

  • 3+ years of experience in highly regulated industry

  • Example: (e.g., Financial Services, Energy, Healthcare, or Government)

  • 2+ years of experience in talent brand, recruitment marketing, or talent acquisition
