We are seeking Lead Back End Software Engineers /Architects who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Capital One Senior Lead Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with product managers to shape strategic roadmaps and drive product vision.
  • Lead the architectural design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of resilient, high-performance applications that deliver essential business capabilities and value.
  • Partner with enterprise architects to align with and adopt standardized architecture patterns.
  • Work closely with vendor subject matter experts to identify and implement effective solutions that support business objectives.
  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
  • Utilize programming languages like Java, AWS(EC2, ECS/EKS, S3), CI/CD pipeline, Jenkins, Postgres/DynamoDB

What we’re Looking For:

  • Deep understanding of software engineering with experience Java (JSE, JEE) and Linux-based systems
  • Demonstrable experience in Technical Architecture
  • Strong understanding of microservice and event driven architecture
  • Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proven experience in cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Proven experience in open source frameworks
  • Event Driven Architecture
  • Agile Practices
  • Payments Knowledge / background is beneficial
  • Knowledge on Kubernetes will be helpful
  • Cross functional engagement mindset

Where and how you'll work

This is a permanent position and is based in our Farnborough office.

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.

We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Farnborough office 2 days a week.
